Mr Bokhari recently operated on my right knee at Buckshaw hospital. From first meeting his he exuded confidence, clearly understanding my problem and fully explaining what he could do to help. On the day of my operation he took great care to fully explain the operation again to me, ensuring that I was happy to proceed. After the operation he again took the time to chat with me about his actions during the operation. Today I have had the post-operative meeting with his, and he was genuinely interested in how I had progressed during the operation. He again took time to explain how the operation went and what the future would be like. I fully commend Mr Bokhari to any person wanting such surgery. He is genuinely open and listens giving you the time to express your concerns and wishes. Buckshaw hospital is also worthy of 5 stars for their facilities and welcoming, friendly, professional staff.

Prior to my hip replacement I struggled to walk around the supermarket. I kept as fit as I could by swimming but could do very little on dry land. The pain was severe even with maximum pain relief. I had the operation under a spinal anaesthetic at Beardwood Hospital and was on my feet within 12 hours post op, noting already a significant reduction in pain. Yes I still had pain, but now it was muscular, rather than the arthritic pain which I had been used to. My leg felt very heavy, as it was swollen and overtime became heavily bruised down to mid calf. This heaviness, swelling and bruising took many weeks to completely resolve, probably about 8 weeks in total, but each week showed improvements. I returned home 36 hours post op on 2 elbow crutches. I live alone, but 1 of my daughters had come home to be with me for a few days initially. I found going up and downstairs to be easy. I started walking outside immediately with my daughter accompanying me, initially going about 500m, but this soon increased. By 2 weeks post op I was walking 1 mile without any problem, and by 4 weeks was walking 3 miles. At this stage I started to use just 1 crutch indoors. I was tired a lot and needed to sleep in the afternoon for an hour or two. By 8 weeks post op I began to attend a Pilates class run by Spirit of Pilates (based in Skipton). The class was for older people and worked with me fantastically to ensure that I didn't risk the hip replacement. At 12 weeks post op I returned to swimming, which I have had no problems with. The operation has been a fantastic success and I can't speak highly enough about Mr Bokhari, all his team and the Beardwood Hospital. They have enabled me to start my life again.

I was fortunate to be admitted to The Beardwood Hospital in May for a total hip replacement, which was carried out by Mr Bokhari and his team. It was my first time in hospital and I was fearful. Needlessly, as the care and compassion shown by all was exemplary. During my waiting time, I regularly read the reviews written about Mr Bokhari and team, as I found doing so allayed my fear and anxiety. I hope this review encourages others who are waiting for procedures. Mr Bokhari is very professional, kind and communicates very clearly in consultation. From our initial meeting, I felt that I was ‘in very safe hands’. A heartfelt thank you to Mr Bokhari, his team and all at The Beardwood Hospital.

I have been to see Mr.Bokhari for a follow up visit for the hip replacement he performed for me in April.Despite having given it much thought, I couldn’t find words adequate enough to thank Mr Bokhari for the change he has made to my life. From being unable to make it to the corner shop I am now back to enjoying the love of my life, country walks with my husband.I truly believed they were a thing of the past but Mr Bokhari’s skill has turned this around and I feel alive again. The whole experience at Beardwood was beyond my expectations, the staff treating me with patience and understanding, nothing was too much trouble. A very grateful 68 year old. .
